Bloomington Police seeking public’s help to identify person of interest in Kirkwood Avenue shooting

BLOOMINGTON— The Bloomington Police Department (BPD) is calling on the community to help identify a man believed to be connected to a shooting that occurred downtown over the weekend.

According to BPD, the shooting took place during the early morning hours of Sunday, April 26, 2026, on Kirkwood Avenue. While the investigation is ongoing, detectives have identified a “person of interest” they are eager to locate.

Investigators have released surveillance images of a male subject they wish to question. Detectives are highlighting several unique items the individual was wearing at the time of the incident, the subject was wearing a highly distinctive backpack that resembles a shark or a dolphin. He was also seen wearing a notable necklace over his clothing.

The Bloomington Police Department is asking anyone who recognizes the man in the photographs or who may have witnessed the events on Kirkwood Avenue to come forward.
