Gary D. Grow, 83, left this life peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
Born in Scottsburg, Indiana, on November 21, 1942, to Floyd and Virginia Grow. Gary grew up in Bedford, Indiana, and graduated from Shawswick High School in 1960. He retired in 2006 from GM after nearly 44 years as a talented tool and die maker.
Gary loved hunting, fishing, playing guitar, mushroom hunting, gardening, and other outdoor activities. He was a car enthusiast, loved auto racing, and enjoyed watching the kids’ sports. Everyone who met Gary liked him due to his cleverness and wittiness. He was a handyman who liked to fix things on his own and could often be found working in his garage.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Kathy, of 40 years; sons, Kevin (Sheryl) Grow of Columbus, Brian (Misty) Grow of Columbus, Brad Grow of Springville, and Nathan Grow of Columbus; a sister, Cindy Grow of Oolitic; a sister-in-law, Renee Charette of Bedford; (11) grandchildren; and (15) great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Floyd and Virginia Grow; siblings, Allen Grow, Dee Dee Grow, and Tim Grow; daughter, Carrie Christie; daughter-in-law, Ashley Grow; and grandson, Blake Grow.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne Family Funeral Homes, 818 18 th St, Bedford, Indiana. Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 2, at 11:00 a.m., at Ferguson-Lee Chapel with Pastor Joe McAdams and Pastor Tim Day officiating. Burial will follow at Cresthaven Memory Gardens on Dixie Highway in Bedford.
In place of flowers, donations can be made in Gary’s memory to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Dive Christian Church Youth Program.
