KNOX COUNTY – Late Friday night, April 24th, at approximately 11:34 p.m., Trooper Tanner Hurley was patrolling US 41 near Vincennes when he stopped a black 2014 Ford Explorer for speeding.
Trooper Hurley spoke to the driver of the vehicle, who identified herself as Megan Burns of Vincennes, and the passenger, Victor Sobolewski of Washington. While speaking with the occupants, Trooper Hurley recognized indicators of criminal activity and requested assistance from a K-9 unit.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office and K-9 partner Goran arrived to assist Trooper Hurley. K-9 Goran performed an open-air sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive indication of the presence of narcotics. Due to a positive K-9 alert on the vehicle, officers searched and found three small bags containing approximately 8 grams of suspected methamphetamine, suspected marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Both Burns and Sobolewski were arrested and transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Burns and Sobolewski are facing charges of dealing and possession of meth. Burns is also facing charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
The arresting officer was Trooper Tanner Hurley. Assisting in this incident were Trooper Blake Marsee, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, and K-9 Goran.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty through a fair and due legal process. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
