Nationwide recall issued for Lundberg Organic Jasmine Rice due to ‘foreign material’

INDIANA — Lundberg Family Farms has issued a voluntary recall for approximately 4,500 cases of its Regenerative Organic Certified White Jasmine Rice due to the potential presence of an unidentified “foreign material.”

The recall, announced on April 13, 2026, impacts 2-pound bags sold at major retailers nationwide, including Target, Whole Foods, Walmart, and Wegmans. While Wegmans is currently the only major chain to issue an independent press release, the product is widely distributed across the country.

The recall is classified as a Class 2 event by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This classification indicates that while the probability of serious health consequences is remote, use of the product could cause “temporary or medically reversible” health problems.

Lundberg Family Farms stated the recall was issued out of an abundance of caution, and no illnesses or injuries have been reported to date.

Consumers are urged to check their pantries for the following product details:

  • Product Name: Lundberg Regenerative Organic Certified White Jasmine Rice (2 lb. pouch)
  • UPC Code: 073416-040281
  • Lot Codes and Best-By Dates:
    • 260201 (Best-By: 02/01/2027)
    • 260202 (Best-By: 02/02/2027)

Health officials advise consumers not to eat the recalled rice.

If you have purchased the affected product, you should:

  1. Discard the rice immediately or return it to the point of purchase.
  2. Request a refund: Wegmans and other major retailers are offering full refunds for returned items.
  3. Contact Customer Service: For additional questions, customers can reach out to Wegmans Food Markets at 1-855-934-3663 (8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily) or contact Lundberg Family Farms directly.

“We follow strict sourcing and quality guidelines to ensure the safety of our products,” a Lundberg representative said in a statement. “We are working closely with our retail partners to remove the affected lots from shelves as quickly as possible.”
