3A No.7 Edgewood powers to 11-2 win over BNL

BNL’s Bella Warren had two hits and two RBIs, but the Stars dropped an 11-2 decision at Edgewood on Tuesday.

ELLETTSVILLE – Edgewood erupted for six runs in the fourth inning en route to an 11-2 win over Bedford North Lawrence during high school softball action on Tuesday.

The Mustangs (8-1) clubbed back-to-back home runs by Madi Bland and Ella Sproul during the fourth-inning breakout. Edgewood, ranked No.7 in Class 3A, also scored three in the third while collecting a total of 12 hits en route to their fifth straight win.

Sproul finished with three hits and 3 RBIs, Bland drove in three runs with two hits, and Jayden Stephens had two hits and 2 RBIs for the Mustangs.

Bella Warren paced the Stars (2-12) with two hits, and she drove in both runs with a double in the fifth.

Ally Bland went the distance in the circle for Edgewood, scattering eight hits while striking out 12. Adalynn Bailey added two hits for BNL

The Stars will host New Albany in their Hoosier Hills Conference opener on Wednesday.
