BLOOMINGTON — Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington is offering free STEM summer workshops for high school students and adults. Participants will gain hands-on experience and be introduced to careers in microelectronics, automated manufacturing, and defense-related industries.

The one-week workshops start June 8 for high school students and June 15 for adults. These workshops provide a foundational overview for those exploring new career paths or seeking a professional transition.

“These sessions give high school students exposure to real-world STEM applications and connect residents directly to workforce opportunities in our region,” said Michael Waterford, employer liaison at Ivy Tech Bloomington.
Interactive activities include circuit board assembly, soldering, robotics, automation programming, and cleanroom simulations. Participants will build in-demand skills, learn the fundamentals of the microelectronics industry, and hear from local industry insiders, area companies, and hiring managers.
Applications are open until May 1. Space is limited in each session.
