Mitchell Library to host “Preserve Smart” watch party on freeze-drying

MITCHELL — The Mitchell Community Public Library will host a “Preserve Smart” watch party on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.. The event features an online presentation by Purdue Extension focused on the process of freeze-drying food at home.

Attendees will learn the technical aspects of freeze-drying and how to implement the preservation method in their own kitchens. As part of the experience, the library will provide free samples of freeze-dried fruit and candy for participants to try.

The event is free to the public, but registration is required. Interested individuals can sign up at the library’s front desk or by calling 812-849-2412.

This program is presented in partnership with Purdue University Extension – Health and Human Sciences. For those requiring special accommodations to attend, please contact Abigail Creigh at creigh@purdue.edu.
