MITCHELL — Mitchell Parks & Recreation has officially announced the “Mitchell Playground Project,” a major fundraising initiative to construct an inclusive playground designed for children of all physical, sensory, and developmental abilities.
The project aims to address the limitations of traditional playgrounds, which often feature equipment and surfaces that create barriers for children with mobility or sensory challenges. The new space is envisioned as an environment where children can play side-by-side, fostering empathy, cooperation, and social skills among all members of the community.

The total fundraising goal for the project is $800,000. As of the campaign launch, $10,151.25 has been raised. Organizers emphasize that an inclusive playground is more than just an accessible space; it is a vital community investment in the physical and emotional health of all Mitchell families.
