BEDFORD — The Lawrence County Fairgrounds is set to become a hub of activity this week as the Lawrence County 4-H Rabbit Club hosts its 14th Annual Open Show. The premier regional competition, scheduled for March 6 and 7, 2026, typically attracts over 1,200 entries from breeders across the Midwest.

In conjunction with the competitive show, the club is inviting the community to its 2nd Annual Loaded Baked Potato Bar and “Buy Now” auction. The fundraiser will take place at the Lawrence County Expo on Friday, March 6, starting at 4:00 p.m. and continuing until food runs out.
A High-Level Competition
The 14th Annual Open Show is officially sanctioned by the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA). This year’s event features an expanded lineup of 13 different shows, including four All-Breed shows and five Specialty shows.
The event offers a unique platform for local 4-H members and youth to test their skills against seasoned exhibitors from multiple states. In previous years, the show has drawn participants from Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.
Supporting Local Youth
The Loaded Baked Potato Bar and “Buy Now” auction serve as the primary fundraisers for the club. Proceeds from these events are used for essential needs, such as:
- Barn repairs at the fairgrounds.
- 4-H Camp sponsorships for local members.
- Philanthropic activities within the community.
The “Buy Now” auction format allows attendees to purchase a wide variety of items—which in the past have included event tickets, jewelry, and gift baskets—outright at a marked price to guarantee their purchase.
