Raylee Blackwell designs Spring Mill Trail Challenge logo

MITCHELL – Spring is around the corner, and it’s time to get started on the Spring Mill Trail Challenge. Trail Challenge stickers and shirts are now available.

The 2026 Trail Challenge logo was developed by Raylee Blackwell. She is a freshman at Mitchell High School. Her design was selected in an Art Contest sponsored by Friends of Spring Mill State Park.

The students in Becky Mason’s art class competed to design this year’s Trail Challenge logo. Blackwell’s logo won the contest and can now be found on unique stickers and T-shirts. Mason said Blackwell is a wonderful young woman with a lot of talent.

“When we took the design in to have T-shirts made, the owner of Good Sports also noted that the design was exceptionally well done, said Teena Ligman.

To complete the Trail Challenge, a person just needs to walk each of the 9 trails in the park, approximately 10 miles. Once the trails are completed, you get a free vinyl sticker at the Park Office or Nature Center. The stickers were printed by Mitchell High School, again as part of their careers curriculum.

T-shirts for the Trail Challenge are also available for purchase online in partnership with Good Sports in Bedford. These T-shirts are available in short- or long-sleeve styles, and approximately half of the proceeds go to support the Park. The link can be found on the Friends’ website, Facebook page, or at https://shop-good-sports.myshopify.com/collections. Look for the link for Spring Mill Trail Challenge on this page.

There is no time limit on the trail challenge. Take your time, and when you are done, pick up a sticker and order a T-shirt. The Friends of Spring Mill encourage visitors who can do the challenge every year, and you’ll likely see something you didn’t notice before.
