Seymour announces America’s 250th Birthday art and essay contest

SEYMOUR — The City of Seymour is inviting students to participate in an art and essay contest celebrating the 250th birthday of the United States of America.

Students are asked to submit original artwork and/or essays exploring the theme “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” The contest is open to multiple grade levels.

The essay contest is open to students in grades 5–6, 7–8 and 9–12. Winning essays will be published during Seymour’s 250th Celebration. Essays must be submitted by email to mayor@seymourin.org.

The art contest is open to students in grades K–4, 5–8 and 9–12. Artwork must be hangable or displayable. Winning artwork will be displayed at Seymour City Hall through the end of the year. Artwork may be delivered to Seymour City Hall, 301–309 N. Chestnut St.

The deadline to submit artwork and essays is 4:30 p.m. April 30, 2026.
