The Indiana Forage Council will host a webinar titled “From Bale to Blacktop: Preventing Hay-Related Road Hazards” on Feb. 23, 2026, at 6 p.m.
The webinar will feature Fred Whitford and will focus on safety considerations when transporting hay on public roads. Topics will include straps, slow-moving vehicle signs, hitch pins and tires, which are all part of safely moving hay from the field or barn to its destination.
Organizers note that while baling and stacking hay may appear straightforward, pulling hay on the road, even for short distances, presents unique challenges that require proper preparation and equipment.
