North Lawrence Community Schools celebrates National School Counseling Week

BEDFORD – North Lawrence Community Schools is recognizing National School Counseling Week, observed February 2–6, 2026, by celebrating the dedicated counselors who play a vital role in supporting student success across the district.

School counselors provide essential guidance in academic planning, career exploration, and social-emotional development, while also serving as trusted advocates and sources of support for students and families. Their work helps ensure that every student has the tools, confidence, and encouragement needed to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

NLCS extends appreciation to its counseling team, including JoAnn Chase at Lincoln Elementary School, Jennifer Harris at Needmore Elementary School, Morgan Morris at Parkview Elementary School, Becky Kleihege at Bedford Middle School, JoAnna Hackney, Amie Jahn, Chris Kurtz, and Lauren Strauser at Bedford North Lawrence High School, and Kristina Baker at the North Lawrence Career Center.

District leaders encourage the community to join in thanking these professionals for their dedication, compassion, and lasting impact on students’ lives. National School Counseling Week serves as an opportunity to recognize how counselors help amplify student success every day.
