Purdue Extension’s “Farm Shield” coming to Bloomington Jan. 28

BLOOMINGTON – Purdue Extension is inviting farm families and agricultural business owners to Bloomington later this month for Farm Shield, a one-day program focused on protecting family operations from unexpected challenges and preparing for long-term stability.

The event will feature keynote speaker Jolene Brown, a professional speaker, author and farmer, presenting “There is a Better Way: Navigating the Succession and Transition of Your Family Business.” Organizers say the program is designed to help families build resilience, reduce conflict and create a clear plan for the future.

Farm Shield includes breakout sessions covering estate and succession planning, managing financial responsibility, addressing family conflict, and preparing for the unexpected. A catered meal and program materials are included with registration, along with practical guidance participants can apply directly to their own farm or business.

The Bloomington session is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 302 S. College Ave. Registration has been extended, and the cost to attend is $40. Those interested can register online at https://bit.ly/farmshieldbloomington.
