Purdue Extension to host ServSafe Food Manager Certification Class in Greene County

BLOOMFIELD – The Purdue Extension, in partnership with ServSafe, will host a ServSafe Food Manager one-day class and examination in Greene County this winter, providing food service professionals an opportunity to earn a nationally recognized certification.

The training is scheduled for February 4, 2026, and will take place at the Greene County Extension Office, located at 4503 W. State Road 54 in Bloomfield. Registration opens at 8:45 a.m., with instruction running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by the proctored exam at 3 p.m. Eastern.

ServSafe Food Manager certification is the highest level of food safety training offered by the National Restaurant Association and meets Indiana food protection requirements. The course focuses on critical areas including foodborne microorganisms and allergens, personal hygiene, purchasing and storage, food preparation and service, facilities sanitation, and pest management. Participants must score 70 percent or higher on the exam to earn certification, which is valid for five years.

The cost for the training includes options for either a manual and proctored exam for $165 or a manual and protected exam for $115. A $65 proctored exam-only option is also available for those who already have materials. Registration is required by January 27, 2026, and space is limited.

Those with accommodation needs are encouraged to contact D’Lee Rush at 812-659-2122 or via email at dlrush@purdue.edu by January 21, 2026. Additional information and registration details are available online through Purdue Extension’s ServSafe workshops page.

Organizers say the course is ideal for restaurant managers, food service supervisors, and anyone responsible for food safety compliance, offering a convenient way to meet state requirements while strengthening best practices in food handling and safety.
