Orleans Dogwood Festival prepares for 56th year as “America 250” kickoff site

ORLEANS — Planning is officially underway for the 56th Annual Orleans Dogwood Festival, a beloved Southern Indiana tradition that will take on added national significance this year.

The 2026 festival, scheduled for April 18 through April 25, has been selected as a key kickoff site for the “America 250” celebration—a multi-year nationwide initiative commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Recognized by Midwest Magazine as one of the “Midwest’s Top 5 Flowering Festivals,” the event draws thousands of visitors to “Indiana’s Dogwood Capital” to view the town’s trademark blooming trees. The festival has also gained regional acclaim with features in Travel Indiana, Midwest Traveler, and Southern Indiana Living.

A Week of Free Family Fun

True to its roots, the 56th annual celebration will offer a robust schedule of free activities designed for all ages. While the full 2026 itinerary is still being finalized, attendees can expect the return of fan favorites:

  • Live Entertainment: Daily performances on the Main Festival Stage.
  • The Dogwood Parade: Featuring celebrity guests and local marching bands.
  • Carnival & Food: A full midway of rides alongside food and craft vendors.
  • Community Competitions: A 5K Run/Walk, Pickleball Tournament, Photography Contest, and the historic Dogwood Pageants.
  • Arts & Heritage: An Art Walk and a Silent Auction, complemented by the debut of special “America 250” historical exhibits.

Local Businesses Invited to Partner

As a non-profit organization, the Orleans Dogwood Festival Committee relies on corporate and local support to keep the majority of its events free to the public. The Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking sponsors for the 2026 milestone.
