First-time homebuyers interested in learning what it truly takes to buy and own a home will have a new opportunity in 2026 through a free educational program offered by the City of Bloomington Department of Housing and Neighborhood Development. Registration is now open for the 2026 Home Buyers Club, a hands-on series designed to guide participants through the entire homebuying process.
The Home Buyers Club is designed for individuals and families preparing for their first purchase and covers essential topics, including building a realistic household budget, creating a personalized home-buying action plan, choosing the right mortgage, and understanding the importance of home inspections and ongoing maintenance. The goal of the program is to help participants become informed, confident homeowners before they ever sign a contract.

Attendance is limited to 30 participants per session to ensure an interactive and supportive learning environment. The first two courses of 2026 are scheduled for Saturday, January 4, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, January 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Both sessions will be held at Bloomington City Hall, located at 401 North Morton Street.
For those unable to attend the January sessions, additional Home Buyers Club courses are scheduled for April, July, September, and November. Registration for each session typically opens about one month before the class date.
