The Reality Store® program is set to return in 2026, giving junior high students across Monroe County the opportunity to experience hands-on financial decision-making that mirrors real adult responsibilities. Organizers have announced four dates for the upcoming year, with the program visiting multiple schools throughout the spring semester.
The 2026 Reality Store® schedule begins at Edgewood Junior High School on February 6, followed by Batchelor Middle School on March 13. The program will then move to Jackson Creek Middle School on April 3, before wrapping up at Tri-North Middle School on May 8.

The Reality Store® is designed to help students better understand the financial realities they will face as adults. During the simulation, students are assigned the role of a 28-year-old beginning their career and adult life. With a set salary and family situation, they must make critical budgeting decisions that reflect everyday expenses.
Students rotate through a series of stations, each representing real-life financial obligations such as housing, transportation, utilities, food, clothing, childcare, and entertainment. These stations are staffed by community volunteers who guide students through the process and show how quickly expenses can add up. The goal is to help students understand the importance of budgeting, financial planning, and making informed choices.
The Reality Store® continues to be a powerful educational tool, giving students a realistic snapshot of adult financial responsibilities while building practical skills they will carry into the future.
