The Parent Project returns on January 8th at StoneGate

BEDFORD – A proven parenting program aimed at addressing destructive adolescent behavior will return to Bedford in January, offering families practical tools and real-world strategies to improve communication, school performance, and overall family stability.

The Parent Project, a nationally recognized program, will be offered as a 10-week course beginning Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, at the StoneGate Arts and Education Center, 931 15th St. in Bedford. Classes will meet weekly on Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with the final session scheduled for March 12. The cost to participate is $30, and parents unsure if the program is right for them are encouraged to attend the first class at no cost.

The course focuses on helping parents reduce conflict, prevent or intervene in substance use, improve school attendance and performance, and develop effective responses to media and technology challenges. Participants are taught practical, no-nonsense strategies designed to stop destructive behaviors before they escalate.

Lawrence County Probation Officers, who have consistently delivered the program locally, are widely recognized for their effective and compassionate instruction. Their involvement ensures the training remains grounded in real experiences and proven techniques that work for families facing difficult situations.

Registration is required. Parents and caregivers interested in participating can contact Katie Messmann at 812-275-5754 or register by scanning the QR code provided on the flyer below. The program is open to all parents seeking support, structure, and solutions.

The Parent Project is designed to empower parents and transform teens by strengthening families through accountability, consistency, and clear communication.
