SEYMOUR – The Seymour Noon Lions Club has launched its annual food drive to benefit and replenish supplies at local Seymour Food Banks. The drive officially began this Monday and is scheduled to run until November 22nd, at which point the club will reassess the need for an extension.

The Lions Club is urging the community to help by donating unexpired, non-perishable food items to support local families as the holiday season approaches.
While all non-perishable donations are welcome, the Lions have provided a list of items that are particularly needed. They are also asking participants to look for items with pop-top cans (for fruits, vegetables, or meat), as this eliminates the need for a can opener.
| Category | Suggested Items |
| Proteins/Meats | Canned chicken, tuna, salmon, SPAM, ham, black/kidney/garbanzo beans, lentils, and pork and beans. |
| Grains/Cereals | Hot/cold cereals, oatmeal, white or brown rice, crackers, granola bars, pasta, and macaroni and cheese. |
| Pantry Staples | Peanut butter, sugar, flour, cooking oils (vegetable/canola), dried herbs/spices, pancake mix and syrup, and instant mashed potatoes. |
| Canned Goods | Canned fruit/applesauce, canned vegetables, soup, stew, chili, and tomato/pasta sauce. |
| Quick Meals | Chef Boyardee pastas, ramen noodles, soup in a cup, and shelf-stable meal/meals in a box. |
| Beverages | Shelf-stable and powdered milk, juice, and drink mix. |
