City of Seymour hiring full-time second deputy in Clerk-Treasurer’s Office

SEYMOUR — The City of Seymour is currently accepting applications for a full-time Second Deputy position within the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office. This role offers a regular weekday schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and provides the opportunity to serve the community through administrative and payroll support.

The Second Deputy is responsible for assisting the Clerk-Treasurer and Department Directors with biweekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll functions, while also performing various bookkeeping, clerical, and customer service duties.

Key responsibilities include processing payroll and employee deductions, maintaining organized financial records for State Board of Accounts audits, handling sewer payments and customer inquiries, and preparing year-end tax documentation such as W-2s and 1099s. The position also requires managing employee insurance payments, retirement contributions, and other routine administrative tasks.

Candidates must have experience with payroll, possess business and computer education from a vocational, technical, or college setting, and demonstrate excellent customer service skills. Some accounting experience is preferred. Applicants must also be able to be bonded and speak fluent English.
