SEYMOUR — Jackson County 4-H will kick off a new program this fall designed to prepare young people for everyday responsibilities as they grow into adulthood. The Life Skills 101 series will offer practical guidance to 4-H members, local youth, and young adults on topics ranging from home care to financial literacy.
The first session is scheduled for Tuesday, September 30, at 4 p.m. at the Jackson County Public Library, 303 W. Second St. in Seymour. The opening workshop, “Basics of Chores,” will provide step-by-step instruction on cleaning and organizing. Participants will learn what “clean” really means, how to create daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal cleaning plans, and how to keep up with routines without feeling overwhelmed.

Organizers say the series is open to all ages but will be especially helpful for teens, children ages 8 and up, and neurodivergent adults seeking new approaches to household tasks. Future sessions will expand to other life skills, giving young people the tools to manage challenges as they enter adulthood.
The program is free and open to the public. For more information or to register, visit chores.4honline.com or call 812-358-6101.
