Free genealogy conference scheduled for Oct. 17

INDIANAPOLIS – More than 80 libraries from Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, and Texas will celebrate Family History Day on Friday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a free hybrid genealogy conference featuring top genealogical experts.

“From Clues to Kin: A Day of Genealogical Discovery” will broadcast pre-recorded lectures to all event locations and to virtual participants. Researchers are also invited to join in person at the History Center, located at the Marion Public Library, to network with other family history enthusiasts and to explore available local history resources.

Lectures include “The Stories of Our Lives: Beginning Your Family History,” “Family Trees Get Smart: AI as Your Genealogy Assistant,” “Following a Civil Case Through Documents Filed in Court​​​​​​​,” “All in the Family: Using Collateral Research to Build Your Family Tree​​​​​​​” and “Research Road Trips: Productive for You, Fun for Family.”

The conference is eligible for up to five LEUs for Indiana Library staff.
