BLOOMINGTON — The Leonard Springs Nature Days program is seeking volunteers for its fall sessions, which aim to connect every sixth-grade student in the Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC) with the natural world. The program operates under the motto “leave no child inside,” providing an immersive, educational experience at Leonard Springs Nature Park.

The program runs on Tuesdays throughout September and October. Volunteers are needed to serve as Station Facilitators from 9:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. to guide students through various learning stations at the park, including Karst, Creek, Forest, and Wetland areas.
No prior experience is necessary, as all teaching materials and training videos are provided. Hundreds of students, teachers, and parents participate annually, making the program a significant part of the MCCSC curriculum. The program’s success relies heavily on the support of volunteers.

Anyone interested in volunteering must commit to the whole shift. Upon registering, volunteers will receive detailed information about their role, what to bring, and directions.
For more information or to sign up, please get in touch with the volunteer coordinator, Emily Buuck, at 812-349-3739 or emily.buuck@bloomington.in.gov.
