BLOOMINGTON – While the Monroe County Democratic Party will not be marching as a distinct group in this year’s 4th of July Parade, the Monroe County Commissioners have extended an invitation for local Democrats to join their section in the parade.
Democrats interested in participating alongside the Commissioners should meet by the red county dump truck in the “Blue” staging area along N. Madison Street, in front of Dimension Mill. Parade setup is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m., with the parade officially kicking off at 10:00 a.m.

The Monroe County Democratic Party expressed gratitude to the Commissioners for their offer.
For those wishing to show their party spirit, free Monroe Dems t-shirts will be available tonight, July 2, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the party’s headquarters, located at 115 East 2nd Street.

The Monroe County Democrats are inviting the community to an Ice Cream Social this Friday, July 4th, immediately following the Independence Day parade. The event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Chocolate Moose, located at 405 South Walnut Street.
The social is an opportunity for community members to gather and connect, and the Monroe County Democratic Party is entirely paying for it
