Mitchell High School to host first-ever youth soccer camp this July

MITCHELL – For the first time in program history, the Mitchell High School Varsity Soccer Team will host a Youth Soccer Camp for students entering grades 1 through 8. The two-day event, led by Head Coach Jason Bowden and members of the Mitchell Varsity Bluejackets, is scheduled for July 14 and 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mitchell High School Turf Field.

The camp is open to all youth, regardless of school or residency, and aims to provide an opportunity to learn soccer fundamentals in a fun and energetic environment. Training will cover warm-up exercises, key fundamentals such as passing, settling, finishing, defense, shooting, and throw-ins, as well as player positions and team-building activities focused on leadership, communication, and teamwork.

Registration is $25 per player, payable by cash or check on the first day of camp. Families are encouraged to register by July 1 to receive a free participation gift. Camp entry will be through the back gate behind Mitchell Junior High on 9th Street.

“This camp is more than just drills and games,” Coach Bowden said. “It’s about building a foundation for youth in our community to grow not only as soccer players but as confident teammates and future leaders. We also put a strong focus on promoting attitude and work ethic at a young age—because those qualities are the foundation of success. Talent is just a bonus.”
