MITCHELL – The Mitchell Community Public Library will host a poetry reading with Indiana native Warren Fleetwood on Thursday, June 26, at 6 p.m., featuring work from his upcoming book of poems called Woodsferry to Harper’s Ferry.

Fleetwood, a Mitchell-born poet and longtime educator, describes his work as grounded in “Kmart Realism,” a blue-collar lens on personal, cultural, and physical landscapes. He draws inspiration from everyday life in southern Indiana and beyond, using poetry to reflect on the lives of working Americans.
“Warren’s work gives voice to communities that don’t often appear in poetry,” said a library spokesperson. “His reading promises to be both grounded and resonant for our audience.”
Fleetwood graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a degree in Writing and English Education. He currently lives in Fort Branch, Indiana, with his wife, Alana, and is completing his 28th year teaching literature at both the high school and college levels.
Admission to the reading is free and open to the public. The event is part of the Mitchell Library’s summer programming and aims to highlight local voices in Indiana’s literary scene.
