Celebrate summer with artful activities at the Orleans Library

The Orleans Public Library is inviting local families to unleash their creativity with two free, hands-on events leading into the Fourth of July holiday.

On Tuesday, July 1, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., the library will host its annual Bring Your Own Tie-Dye Project in the basement. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own white fabric items, such as a t-shirt, hat, socks, or tote bag, and use the library’s tie-dye materials to create colorful, one-of-a-kind designs. Supplies will be available while they last. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Then, on Thursday, July 3, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., kids can take part in Window Painting in the Children’s Department. This drop-in event invites children and families to help decorate the library’s interior windows with bright, washable paints. No experience or registration is needed, just a willingness to have fun and make the library a little more colorful.

Both events are free and open to the public. The library is located at 174 N Maple Street in Orleans. For more details, call (812) 865-3270 or follow the Orleans Public Library on Facebook for ongoing updates.
