Irsay daughters assume ownership of Indianapolis Colts

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts will now be co-owned by the three daughters of the team’s late owner and chief executive officer, Jim Irsay. Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt, and Kalen Jackson have been named co-owners, effective immediately, according to a news release from the team on Monday. This transition ensures the team remains one of the few NFL franchises under sole family ownership.

Each sister will also take on additional leadership roles within the organization:

  • Carlie Irsay-Gordon will serve as owner and chief executive owner becoming the team’s principal owner while sharing leadership duties with her sisters. She has represented the Colts at NFL meetings since 2004 and is a member of multiple league committees, also serving on the board of the NFL Player Care Foundation.
  • Casey Foyt will assume the role of owner and executive vice president. Since joining the Colts in 2007, she has been involved in the marketing and community relations department, helping to plan the NFL’s first regular-season game played outside of North America. She also represents the team at NFL meetings and other events.
  • Kalen Jackson will become the owner and chief brand officer and will also serve as the president of the Indianapolis Colts Foundation. Jackson leads the team’s “Kicking the Stigma” campaign, which aims to raise awareness about mental health disorders and combat associated stigma. She is also president of the Indianapolis Colts Women’s Organization and chairs the NFL’s employee benefits committee, representing the team at NFL meetings.

The three sisters have served as the team’s vice chair/owner since 2012. The Irsay family’s connection to the team dates back to 1972 when it was located in Baltimore. Robert Irsay, Jim Irsay’s father, moved the team to Indianapolis in 1984. Jim Irsay became the sole owner in 1997 after his father’s passing.

Under Jim Irsay’s leadership, the Colts achieved significant success, including 10 division championships, two AFC Championships, and a victory in Super Bowl XLI, the club’s fourth world championship. From 2000 to 2009, the Colts recorded 115 regular-season wins, which was the most in a decade for any team in the league at the time.

Jim Irsay passed away at the age of 65 on May 21, with his funeral held earlier this month at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
