UPDATE: ‘Sleepout Speakout’ event to raise awareness for homelessness in Bedford on August 1

BEDFORDCommunity members are invited to a powerful night of solidarity at the upcoming Sleepout Speakout hosted by Becky’s Place. The non-profit organization of Becky’s Place would like to thank the Bedford First Church of God at 3131 16th Street for graciously allowing them to host this event on their lawn from 7 p.m to 7 a.m. on August 1.

The overnight gathering aims to raise awareness and critical funds for Becky’s Place, a local shelter providing meals, housing, and support services for individuals and families facing homelessness.

Participants will sleep outside for one night to symbolize the daily struggles of those without stable shelter. The evening will include snacks, drinks, and opportunities for discussion about homelessness and community impact.

“This isn’t just about giving up your bed for a night,” organizers said in a statement. “It’s about standing in solidarity, starting conversations, and raising the resources that help transform lives.”

Those unable to attend in person are encouraged to participate from home or another location by sleeping outdoors in support of the cause. Donations and registration can be made online at:
