January 23, 1955 – June 7, 2025
Deborah Sue Mahoney, 70, of Williams, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at her residence.
Born January 23, 1955, in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, she was the daughter of Katherine Marie (Ashworth) and James Burgess. She married Terrence Mahoney on June 10, 1984, and he survives.
Deborah was a U.S. Navy veteran. She never met a stranger and was the kindest and sweetest caring person one could ever know. She never put herself first. She was ready with a listening ear without judgement. She was an advocate for the underdog and the vulnerable.
Deborah loved her family with all of her being and all her heart. She was an incredibly loving, loyal, dedicated, committed, steadfast, faithful, devoted mother and wife. Her children were her world, and she adored her husband. Deborah’s life was dedicated to making sure her family had the best life possible. The last few years were incredibly tough health-wise for Deborah; however, she maintained a positive attitude and fought every day to stay with her family as long as possible despite being in a great deal of pain.
Her family is devastated by the unexpected loss of Deborah, but takes solace in the fact that she is no longer in pain and is in a better place. They will cherish her memory, try to exemplify her values every moment of every day, and will love her eternally.
Survivors include her husband, Terrence Mahoney of Williams; one daughter, Mary Mahoney of Williams, one son, Michael Mahoney and wife, Taylor Pritchett of Bedford; Angel Mundy, Stephanie Mundy, Grace Mundy, Jamica King, Emma King, and Sean King of Huron, IN, all of whom Deborah loved dearly as her own family; one brother, Jim Burgess and wife Donna of Melbourne, FL, one sister, Wanda Hopper and husband Raymond of Chesapeake, VA, a brother-in-law, Joe Mahoney of Denver, CO; and a sister-in-law, Regina Curren of Granby, CO, and many friends, cousins, and loved ones whom she all cherished.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine and James Burgess, brother Phil Reitelbach, and her father and mother-in-law, Paul and Mary Mahoney.
Cremation has been chosen, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Her family urges everyone to cherish the time they have with their loved ones and to help those in need.
