BEDFORD— The annual Limestone Heritage Festival Parade will once again bring color, excitement, and community pride to downtown Bedford on Saturday, June 28. The parade will step off at 6:30 p.m., with entries lining up at the corner of 15th and M streets before proceeding along 16th Street and circling the downtown square.

Dan Bortner, a Bedford native and recently retired director of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, will serve as this year’s Grand Marshal. Bortner spent two decades with the DNR, including 15 years as head of Indiana State Parks, before being appointed as director in 2020.

Hosted as part of the larger Limestone Heritage Festival, the parade celebrates Bedford’s rich limestone history and serves as a highlight of summer festivities in Lawrence County. Crowds are expected to line the streets to cheer on floats, marching bands, classic cars, civic groups, and local organizations participating in the celebration.
The parade route concludes at the corner of 13th Street and Lincoln Avenue. Participants can turn north onto Lincoln Avenue or head west on 13th Street. Eastbound 13th Street will be closed to traffic during the event for public safety.

In addition to the parade, visitors can enjoy a variety of food trucks and vendors set up along the J Street section of the downtown square. Official festival vendors will be located on J Street between 15th and 16th streets, offering a range of food, drinks, and festival favorites.
