Twitty & Lynn to bring “A Salute to Conway & Loretta” to Mitchell Opera House

MITCHELL – Country music fans will have a unique opportunity to experience a living piece of country music history as Tre Twitty and Tayla Lynn, the grandchildren of Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn, respectively, bring their “A Salute to Conway & Loretta” show to the Mitchell Opera House on June 7th at 7 PM.

The duo aims to honor their legendary grandparents and the enduring legacy of their music. “Fans have told Tayla and me that when they see us onstage singing, talking, and just looking at each other, they think, ‘Wow, there must be something genetic in those two families,’” says Tre Twitty. “It validates the experience of the concert for them. We’re telling our grandparents’ story through our story.”

Twitty and Lynn emphasize that they are not impersonators, but rather “ambassadors of the Twitty and Lynn names,” offering a “new version of what they’ve already established,” while also acting as “caretakers of the past.” Their show celebrates country music, the lost art of duet singing, and the two beloved icons they affectionately refer to as “Poppy” and “Memaw.” Loretta Lynn herself was reportedly impressed by their performance, with Tayla stating, “Memaw just loved it. It brought up so many memories of Conway for her and took her back to a place in her life when they were building their careers. She’d always say that Tre has Conway’s heart.”

The 90-minute performance will feature timeless duets like “After the Fire Is Gone” and “You’re the Reason Our Kids Are Ugly,” alongside solo hits from Conway and Loretta, including “Hello, Darlin’” and “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” The show offers audiences a chance to relive a musical era that ended too soon, as Conway and Loretta stopped touring together full-time in 1981, and Conway passed away in 1993. “Conway has been gone 30 years,” Tre noted. “Had Poppy lived, I think there would have been a great second act for him and Loretta. There are a lot of people who wanted to see that, and we’re able to let them hear those songs and stories again.”

Beyond their tribute show, Tre and Tayla are also forging their own artistic identities. The duo has an album of original songs and covers in the works, with Tayla as the chief songwriter. They have collaborated with notable figures like Jeffrey Steele, Mark Narmore, Shelly Fairchild, and producer Scott Baggett. In 2022, they released a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m on Fire” and a poignant version of Conway and Loretta’s “Feelins’,” recorded the day after Loretta Lynn’s passing.

Twitty & Lynn made their debut on the Grand Ole Opry in 2022, singing “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man” on the same stage where their grandparents once performed.

Adult admission for the “Twitty & Lynn” show is $55, and tickets for children 12 and under are $23. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m.. The Mitchell Opera House is handicap accessible. Food and drinks are not permitted in the auditorium, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
