SEYMOUR – The Seymour Department of Public Works is seeking to hire a GSG Laborer for its yard waste crew, with applications currently being accepted.
This full-time position operates on a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a half-hour lunch break. The laborer will be supervised by a GSG Supervisor.
General duties for the position include trash removal services, which may involve riding on or in a packer truck, picking up trash and yard waste bags, and performing raking or shoveling as needed. The role also assists with snow removal during winter months and works in the recycling center, sorting materials, and maintaining cleanliness. Related duties may be assigned.
Candidates must be able to work occasionally without supervision and possess the physical capability to lift 125 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds on a regular basis. The position requires serving on a 24-hour call basis for citywide emergencies and the ability to read and carry out written instructions. Applicants must also be prepared to work in adverse weather conditions.
A high school diploma or GED is required for the position.
