BNL boys win title at Big Blue Relays

NORTH VERNON – Bedford North Lawrence raced to a team victory in the Big Blue Relays at Jennings County during boys high school track action on Friday night.

The Stars claimed the title with 76 points, conquering Brownstown (63), Jennings County (56) and Madison (44). BNL finished second in the girls meet with 56 points, while Jennings won the meet with 85.5.

In the boys meet, BNL won seven events. Brayden Patterson was a double winner in the high jump (6-0) and long jump (19-1.75), Luke Morris sailed to the line first in the 110 high hurdles in 16.20, and Orion Hill claimed the discus at 151-7.

The Stars also won the 400 relay (45.73), 800 relay (1:35.51) and shuttle hurdle relay (37.65).

“The boys ran well,” BNL coach Brett Deckard said. “This a great way to finish the regular season and prepare us for the conference next week at Jeffersonville, and the sectional at Brownstown. We are peaking at the right time.”

In the girls meet, the Stars recorded five wins. Paige Voigtschild crossed first in the 3200 (12:24.46), while BNL also won the distance medley (13:41.00), 1600 relay (4:30.02), 400 relay (1:01.81) and 3200 relay (10:43.69).

BNL will compete in the HHC girls meet on Tuesday at Seymour.
