MITCHELL – The Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is organizing an Outdoor Youth Day for Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Sugar Creek Sporting Clays & Hunting Preserve, located at 2191 Bono Rd. in Mitchell, Indiana. The event will run from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a free lunch between noon and 1 p.m. Registration will begin at 10:00 a.m.
The hands-on event will feature six stations covering various outdoor and safety-related activities. These include firearm, water, ATV safety, forestry and tree identification, fishing, archery, pollinators, and raptor conservation presented by Hoosier DNR Raptors. Attendees, aged 10 and up, will rotate through all the stations. Participants 18 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Organizers are also reminding attendees to bring a chair for lunch.
The Lawrence County SWCD requires RSVPs for the event by May 22nd and encourages early registration due to limited space. Those interested in attending should call the Law Co. SWCD office at 812-279-8117 ext. 3 to reserve their spot.
Various organizations, including the Lawrence County SWCD, National Wild Turkey Federation, Bedford First Assembly of God, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, National Forest, Hoosier DNR, and RAPTORS, INC., are supporting the event.
