Voigtschild sets record as BNL sweeps meets at Mitchell

BNL’s Paige Voigtschild set a school record in the 3200 on Monday at Mitchell.

MITCHELL – Bedford North Lawrence’s Paige Voigtschild set a school record as the Stars swept meets from county rival Mitchell during high school track action on Monday.

Voigtschild shattered the school record in the 3200 meter distance race as the Stars won the girls meet 64-59. BNL dominated the boys meet, winning all but one event, while recording a 103-19 triumph.

Voigtschild crossed the line in 11:49.87, breaking the mark of 11:51.67 (set by Grace Tanksley in 2022).

Other winners for the Stars in the girls meet included Elise Williams (5:54.86 in the 1600), Tori Kiser (29.18 in the 200), Macey Lambrecht (31-1 in the shot put), Harryson Hayes (86-10 in the discus), the 3200 relay (11:06.99) and the 400 relay (56.36).

Double winners for the Bluejackets included Marissa Blais (17.52 in the 100 hurdles, 55.71 in the 300 hurdles and 4-8 in the high jump) and Jorja Lamm (13.99 in the 100 and 15-0.75 in the long jump).

In the boys meet, double winners for BNL included Luke Morris (16.37 in the 110 high hurdles and 42.65 in the 300 hurdles), Frank Decker (11.71 in the 100 and 24.57 in the 200), Weston Holtz (5:18.44 in the 1600 and 11:29.18 in the 3200), and Brayden Patterson (6-0 in the high jump and 20-5 in the long jump).

BNL will compete in the Big Blue Relays at Jennings County on Friday.
