The ISO presents Mozart & Mahler, May 1-3 and Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2, May 16-17

INDIANAPOLIS—Exalt your imagination May 1-3 in a program that proceeds from the harem to the heavens! Mozart’s cacophonous Abduction overture sets the stage for his showpiece for soprano and orchestra, Exsultate, jubilate. Mahler’s 4th Symphony explores the ethereal realms of life and death, opening with earthly sleigh bells and closing with a child’s vision of remote, heavenly joy. Soprano Amanda Woodbury joins ISO Music Director Jun Märkl for this harmonious fusion of two Viennese masters. Buy tickets to Mozart & Mahler!

Performances begin at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 1; 7 p.m., Friday, May 2; and at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3. Arrive 50 minutes before the concert start time on Friday and Saturday to hear Words on Music, a 20-minute presentation about the concert and what listeners can expect.
