
SEYMOUR – Bird enthusiasts and nature lovers are invited to celebrate the avian wonders of Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge this weekend at the annual Wings Over Muscatatuck festival. The refuge, located near Seymour, will host a variety of engaging activities for all ages on Friday and Saturday.

According to organizers, the festivities will begin on Friday, April 25th, from 8:00 a.m. to noon, and continue on Saturday, April 26th, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The festival will kick off on Friday morning with a relaxing guided birding tour conducted from the comfort of a van. Saturday promises a full day of activities, especially geared towards young nature enthusiasts. Children can look forward to fun and educational experiences such as birdhouse building, face painting, watercolor and plein air painting sessions, and an exciting scavenger hunt throughout the refuge.
For those keen on birdwatching, Saturday’s schedule is packed with opportunities. Attendees can participate in various bird walks led by experienced guides, learn about majestic cranes in a special program, and get up close with fascinating hawks and owls in another presentation. There will also be a guided walk exploring the diverse wetlands and woods of the refuge, as well as a unique guided tour of the refuge’s normally closed area, offering a special glimpse into protected habitats.
