
BEDFORD – A Bedford man is now facing a meth charges after he was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
According to a Probable Cause Affidvated filed by Lawrence County Sgt. Robin Compton, police arrested Timothy Elias Ortiz Jr., 48, of Bedford, on Saturday, April 12, after he and fellow deputies Miller and James arrived at a residence in the 800 block of Sugar Hill Addition Road to serve an active arrest warrant for Ortiz.

Upon entering the residence, officers found Ortiz lying unconscious on the floor. During a search, officers discovered a glass smoking device in Ortiz’s pocket. The device contained a white powdery substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Due to his unconscious state, Ortiz was transported to IU Bedford for medical clearance. He was taken to the Lawrence County Jail after evaluation and discharge from the hospital.
Ortiz was arrested on the outstanding warrant and charged with possession of methamphetamine, and a warrant for criminal trespass, invasion of privacy, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
