Lawrence County teen crowned Miss Indiana Heritage Teen

LAWRENCE CO. – Lawrence County is celebrating the remarkable achievements of Miss Kaylee McPherson, recently crowned Miss Indiana Heritage Teen.

Kaylee McPherson, who celebrated her 18th birthday on March 9th and was an early graduate with the Class of 2025, is the cherished granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Davis proud residents of Lawrence County.

Beyond her recent triumph, Kaylee demonstrated her commitment to her community by serving as a princess in the Queens Court during the September 2024 Persimmon Festival Queen contest, representing Lawrence County with grace and pride.

A key aspect of Kaylee’s journey is her impactful platform, Teen Substance Abuse Awareness. Through this initiative, she aims to make a positive difference in the lives of her peers and the broader community by raising awareness and promoting prevention efforts.

She also shared a powerful message close to her heart: “My message: Defy the odds. Life is not determined for you, only you can determine the outcome. I proved everybody wrong who thought had my life determined for me, and I fight for every child who is going through the same thing.”

Following her Miss Indiana Heritage Teen win, Kaylee shared her heartfelt emotions, stating, “Where do I even begin? Words just can’t describe how incredible I’m feeling. I am honored to carry the Miss Hoosier Heritage’s Teen title. I will carry this title with grace, dignity, and honor.”

Expressing gratitude for her support system, Kaylee said, “I want to thank my team: First and foremost, my savior, Jesus. Thank you for dying for me so I can do this. Thank you for never letting me give up on this passion, so I can use this platform to spread your love and glory. Melissa Davis and Gary, I love you so much and am so thankful for every ounce of support, time, and money you have poured into this career! You are the reasons for the person I am today! Shaylah Lindsey, for being my hairstylist and life coach on most days. I love you and Novey so much! Andrew Cockerham, my best friend. I love you more than life. You always show up to support me, whether it’s pageant day or not. You are my rock, and I would be so lost without you. My amazing coach, Ava Abdelmalak, you have become family now. We are so blessed you came into our lives and taught me so much. You’re the best! To the Sweeps directors Miss Indiana Sweeps – Hoosier Hills/Hoosier Heritage, you put on an amazing show. You made every single one of us feel loved and special. You all carry such a positive energy. I am so excited that you are my guide for the next year! Roger Manning, for capturing all of the beautiful pictures. You’re the man! To all of my family and friends, I didn’t mention that it helped along the way, so I didn’t forget you. Your support and love have helped me grow and flourish; l thank you for it!”

She added, “To the new titleholders and sisters, I am so excited to grow close with you three and have the best next year! Glory be to god.”
