Ruth Laverne Heltenburg, 95, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born August 9, 1929, in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Avy and Iona (Connor) Sherlock. She married Gerald Vernon Eads in 1948, and he preceded her in death in 1972. She married Boyd Heltenburg in 1981, and he preceded her in death in 2007. She had worked at RCA and had been a secretary at Indiana University.
Survivors include two sons, Roger Eads and wife Patricia, of Oolitic, and Gerald Eads and wife Brandy, of North Vernon; a stepson, Reece Heltenburg, of Bedford; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Hunter and Louise Jones, both of Bedford; a brother, David Sherlock, of Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a daughter, Rita Gayle Grove, a stepson, Jack Heltenburg, a granddaughter, Julie Eads, a daughter-in-law, Nancy Eads, and four siblings.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Adam Strauser at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, March 14th, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Clover Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of service on Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
