Carolyn S. Tumey, 90, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 2:43 pm at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford. Born November 1, 1934, she was the daughter of John Edward Hackney and Helen (Harris) Hackney. Carolyn married George J. Tumey on February 2, 1979, and he passed away March 17, 2004.
Carolyn graduated from Bedford High School with the class of 1953. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Alpha Iota chapter of Delta Sigma Kappa, Bryantsville Home Extension, and Red Rose Circle of the First Christian Church. Carolyn retired from civil service in 1989. Surviving to cherish the memory of Carolyn is one stepdaughter, Georgeann (Michael) Ruland; one stepson, Mark (Jennifer) Tumey; five grandchildren, Eric, Hilary, Candace, Stephanie, and Makayla; and two great grandchildren, Joseph and Nikolas.
Preceding her in death are her parents, John Edward Hackney and Helen (Harris) Hackney; husband, George J. Tumey; and one brother, Jim Hackney.
Graveside services for Carolyn will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 11:00 am at Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford, IN with Elder Jack Maxwell officiating.
