Shirley A. Sons 89 of Bedford passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford. She was born in Bedford on May 22, 1935, to Quilla Secrest and Ruby Ione (Miller) Secrest. Shirley married Marvin W. Sons, and he preceded her in death on July 20, 1993. Shirley was a graduate of Bedford High School and was a member of the First Assembly of God in Bedford, she had previously worked at Carpenter’s Body Works in Mitchell, and Westview Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation along with Day & Carter Mortuary in Bedford.
Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia (Bruce) Fender of Mitchell, and LeeAnn (Ridge) Underwood of Noblesville, grandchildren, Shannon Marlett, Amy Sons, Kyle Sons, Nathan Underwood, and Daniel Underwood, step granddaughter, Brooke Giorgio, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, her companion, Raymond Jones.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marvin W. Sons, stepson, Gordon Sons, and one sister, Bille Louise Hoffsetz.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Cresthaven Funeral Home, burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens, visitation will be on Saturday from Noon until service time at 2:00 PM at the funeral home, condolences may be made at www.cresthavenfh.com.
