Obituary: Frederick Milton Pollert

June 5, 1954 – February 3, 2025

Frederick Milton Pollert, 70, of Seymour, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Lee Memorial
Hospital in Fort Myers, FL.

Born on June 5, 1954, in Seymour, IN, he was the son of Milton Carl and Helen Louise (Zurbrugg) Pollert. Fred was a 1972 graduate of Seymour High School and attended Ball State University.

Fred had always wanted to be a farmer and after two years of college, he had the opportunity to buy a farm close to Uniontown. So, Fred left college to pursue his lifelong dream. He married the love of his life, Karen Lynn Bobb, on August 16, 1975, in Seymour, IN, and for the next 8 years, they lived “life on the farm” where they learned many life lessons. In 1983, they sold and moved to Seymour where Fred went to work with his father and mother at Milt Pollert Real Estate. They added insurance and Fred received his auctioneer’s license. They then became known as Pollerts Inc. Fred never tired to do whatever he could to serve his church and community who were so good to him and his family. At Immanuel Lutheran Church, he served on multiple boards including being Chairman of the Congregation in 1985. He also served on the Lutheran Community Home Board for many years. In the community, Fred was very active in the Seymour Chamber of Commerce, especially the agriculture business committee, and was Chairman of the Chamber Board in 1996. He was the United Way Fund Drive Chairman in 2000. He served as the Community Foundation Chairman. He was a member of the Jackson County Industrial Development Corporation, and Seymour Industrial Corporation and was instrumental in securing land options for the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in 1988. As an auctioneer, Fred did many benefit auctions for the community including the Psi Iota Xi sorority, the United Fund, Jackson County Board of Realtors, Jackson County 4-H Livestock Auction, Trinity Lutheran High School, and Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Above all, Fred cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and his love for his wife Karen, children, and grandchildren was unwavering. Fred was also a loyal friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Fred is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Karen Pollert; his son, Bill (Wendy) Pollert of Carmel; three grandchildren, Annabel, Madeline and Cecelia Pollert of Carmel; his sister, Rebecca (Brad) Boas of Brownstown, IN; three brothers, Daniel (Deborah) Pollert of Ada, MI; Bruce (Natalie) Pollert of Columbus, IN; and Lewis Pollert of Seymour, IN; ten nieces; seven nephews; and many cousins.
