Out-of-State driver arrested for drunk driving in Lawrence County

BEDFORD – A Georgia resident was arrested on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, after being pulled over for unsafe driving on State Road 37 near State Road 58 in Lawrence County, Indiana State Police reported.

Zurik T. Adler, 33, of Buford, Georgia, was initially stopped after an Indiana State Police trooper observed his silver 2002 Lexus RX 300 drifting between lane lines. During the traffic stop, the officer detected an odor of alcohol and conducted field sobriety tests.

According to the police report, Adler displayed signs of impairment and registered a preliminary breath test result of 0.086, which is above the legal limit of 0.08. When offered the implied consent chemical test, Adler refused.

A blood draw search warrant was obtained from Judge John Plummer at approximately 12:08 a.m. Phlebotomist Laurie Selbee collected a blood sample at 12:48 a.m. at IU Health Bedford Hospital. Adler was subsequently transported to the Lawrence County Security Center.

Adler was cited for unsafe lane movement and was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, OWI endangerment, and OWI with a prior conviction.

Adler, traveling with a Georgia driver’s license, may face additional consequences, including potential suspension of driving privileges.
