Inspiring Touchdown Captivates Mitchell

In a heartwarming turn of events, 12-year-old Colton Harkness, who lives with cerebral palsy, scored his first touchdown for the Mitchell Youth League on September 28. Playing against Perry Central in Tell City, Colton ran an impressive 60 yards to cross the goal line, marking the furthest he had ever walked unassisted.

Born prematurely and weighing just over a pound, Colton’s journey to this moment has been inspirational. Players and coaches from both teams celebrated his achievement, showcasing the power of sportsmanship and community support.

Mitchell Youth League Coach Nick Doub and Varsity Coach Zach See expressed their pride in Colton’s accomplishment, highlighting his positive impact on the team and the broader community.

Bedford Loses Prominent Business and Civic Leader

The month also saw the passing of Perry E. Mullis, a respected businessman and civic leader, on September 10 at 91. Mullis, founder of Mullis Petroleum and operator of Mullis Distributors for nearly 70 years, left an indelible mark on the Bedford community through his business acumen and dedication to public service.
