New Albany clips BNL on back nine at Valley View

GALENA – New Albany conquered Bedford North Lawrence by five strokes during girls high school golf action on the back nine at Valley View on Monday.

The Bulldogs, in a battle of two teams earning votes in the recent state poll, carded 156, while the Stars posted 161 on the back side of the course that will host the Hoosier Hills Conference tournament.

Emma Endris paced the Stars with two birdies (holes 14 and 16) en route to a 2-over 37. Emma Voris and Kinleigh Root finished with 41s, and Ellie Horton capped the team scoring with 42.

“This was the first time the Emmas have seen the back nine, and they both did a good job of navigating it,” BNL coach Kori Johnston said. “New Albany played well and showed us they will definitely be a team to watch next week (in the HHC). But I believe we are as well. We have a little work to do this week to prepare, but I’m glad we got a little extra playing time on the conference course.”

Kaidyn Wardlaw was the medalist with 36, Abby Reavis fired a 38, and Emma Reavis added a 39 for the Bulldogs.

BNL will face Jasper at Country Oaks on Tuesday.
