BNL’s Bellush, Stiles finish season in regional

MONTGOMERY – Bedford North Lawrence’s Tyler Bellush and Coleson Stiles finished their 2024 seasons during the IHSAA regional at Country Oaks on Thursday.

Bellush shot a 78 while Stiles posted an 87 as individuals. The top three teams, plus the top three individuals who were not members of qualifying teams, advanced to the state championship at Prairie View Golf Club.

“I’m really proud of the way both Tyler and Coleson finished out the season,” BNL coach Trey Turner said. “Coleson battled all day. He didn’t have the greatest ball striking day, but he was able to keep it in play and grind out a pretty good score.

“Tyler was hitting the ball well all day and put himself in a position down the stretch. We had a number in our head at the start of the day of what we thought it would take to get out. We probably got a little too aggressive on the last couple of holes, trying to get to that number, and it led to a double bogey and bogey. But I’m really proud of the way that he competed.”

Evansville North claimed the team crown with a score of 296, followed by Bloomington South (296) and Castle (306).

Jasper’s Caleb Schnarr was the medalist with a 4-under 68. Gibson Southern’s Peyton Blackard (70) and Daymian Rij (72) also advanced as individuals.
