Two stores and a home were searched after the sale of illegal products to minors

SCOTT CO. – Two stores and a private home were searched by Scott County deputies Monday as part of an investigation into the possible sale of marijuana and other illegal substances to minors.

According to a release from the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Country Boy Food Mart at 950 South Gardner Street and Scott’s Food Mart at 265 South Gardner Street were searched, and a private residence at 170 South Washington Street was searched.

The Sheriff’s Office said throughout their two-month investigation, undercover deputies were able to purchase marijuana from the two store locations. They also received tips that the stores were selling vape products and other age-restricted items to minors.

Deputies brought their evidence to Scott County Prosecutor Chris Owens, whose staff assisted officers by producing the search warrants on Monday.

At 1:00 p.m. Monday, deputies served the warrants on both stores and the private residence.

The sheriff’s office, with help from the Indiana State Excise Police, continues to investigate the matter. Arrests have been made, but the names of those individuals have not been released. According to Sheriff Jerry Goodi, a follow-up news release will be forthcoming.
